Yes, bribery can be a terrible thing. However, in the case of gentle persuasion by use of positive rewards for helping an author write, bribery is very good. Today’s happens to come in the form of a 3-pound box of chocolates, a chocolate orange, and sprite. And rest assured, I will not eat all of these tasty treats today. I have to save some to get me through until 11:59 PM on November 30th. I have 14, 437 words at the present moment. Let’s do this thing! Also NaNoWriMo sent me a message telling me that the end is approaching. It may not be Armageddon, but it sure is scary! They also told me that Current Me is having to pay for those checks that Past Me cashed when putting off the writing. It’s like they can read my brain; so I am off and I’ll update with tonight’s word count to see how much my attempts at bribery have worked!
UPDATE: Well, 2,113 words down in only a few hours. For someone as distractible as I am, that’s fantastic! Absolutely Fantastic! (And if you got that reference, we should be best friends. I love me some Doctor Who.)
Tonight’s final word count is 16,550. I have to work a lot tomorrow, but I will try to novel during my breaks and lunch.
